★ Boldly struck and sharp ★

IRAN, Qajars. Nasir al-Din Shah, AH 1264-1313 / AD 1848-1896. Toman (Gold, 17 mm, 3.32 g, 9 h), type R, Tabriz, AH 1281 = AD 1864/5. Within a central circle, ‘al-sulṭān ibn al-sulṭān Nāṣir al-Dīn Shāh-e Qājār’ (‘Sultan, son of Sultan, Nasir al-Din Shah Qajar’ in Arabic/Persian). Rev. Within a circle, ‘zarb-e dār al-salṭana Tabrīz sana 1281’ (‘Struck in the Abode of the Sultanate Tabriz, year 1281’ in Persian). Album 2921. Boldly struck and sharp. Slightly clipped, otherwise, extremely fine.
