Helena, Augusta, 324-328/30. Follis (Bronze, 18 mm, 2.06 g, 11 h), a contemporary imitation of an issue from Antiochia. Irregular mint, after 325. FL AELENA AVGVSTA Diademed and draped bust of Helena to right. Rev. SECVRITAS REI PVBLICE / SRA*T Securitas standing front, head to left, holding branch in her right hand; in field to right, pellet (?). Cr. RIC 67 and 75 (for prototype). Minor smoothing, otherwise, good very fine.
From the collection of Dr. L. Ramskold, formed since 1969.
The style of this coin is clearly unofficial, indicating that it is a contemporary 'barbarous' imitation. The portrait is typical for Antioch, and the mint mark is a blundered SMANT.
