Description

Constantine II, as Caesar, 316-337. Follis (Bronze, 16 mm, 2.04 g, 6 h), a contemporary imitation of an issue from Rome. Irregular mint, after 321. CONSTANTINVS IVN NOB C Laureate head of Constantine II to right. Rev. CAESARVM NOSTRORVM / RT around wreath containing VOT / X in two lines. Cf. RIC 243 (for prototype). Small die breaks on the obverse and with minor weakness on the reverse, otherwise, about extremely fine.

From the collection of Dr. L. Ramskold, formed since 1969.

The style of this coin is clearly unofficial, indicating that it is a contemporary 'barbarous' imitation.
