Description

★ An extremely rare bust type ★

Constantine II, as Caesar, 316-337. Follis (Bronze, 19.5 mm, 2.93 g, 6 h), Rome, circa 320. CONSTANTINVS IVN NOB C Laureate and cuirassed bust of Constantine II to left, holding Victory on globe in his right hand and eagle-headed parazonium in his left. Rev. SAECVLI F-ELICITAS / P - R / R Q Wreath with AVG set on garlanded cippus. RIC 164 var. (unlisted officina). Extremely rare. Smoothed and with minor traces of corrosion, otherwise, very fine.

This extremely rare coin is one of five examples known from officina Q, of which four are in the Ramskold Collection.
