★ A charming reverse ★

Atilius Saranus, 155 BC. Denarius (Silver, 20 mm, 3.47 g, 12 h), Rome. Head of Roma to right, wearing winged helmet and pearl necklace; behind, X (mark of value). Rev. SAR / ROMA (on tablet) Victory in prancing biga to right, holding whip in her right hand and reins in her left. Babelon (Atilia) 1. Crawford 199/1a. RBW 852. Sydenham 377. A lightly toned example with a charming reverse. A few light scratches, otherwise, good very fine.

From the collection of a Swiss scholar and previously from an old Swiss collection, formed in the 1970s and 1980s.
