★ Struck from unusually fresh dies with excellent details ★

HUNNIC TRIBES, Kidarites. Kidara, circa 350-385. Dinar (Electrum, 35 mm, 7.72 g, 12 h), struck by Kidara in the name of Bahram III, Balkh. 'BAΓO KIΔAPA OOZOPKO KOÞANO ÞAYO ('His Majesty, Kidara, Great King of the Kushan' in Bactrian) Kidara standing front, head to left, wearing a crenellated crown with a globe on top between two broad horizontally-pleated ribbons, sacrificing with his right hand over lighted altar and holding trident in his left hand; to left, trident above small altar; to right, tamgha above rosette. Rev. The illustrious God (Shiva) standing facing with flaming hair, holding diadem in his right hand and trident in his left; behind, the bull Nandi, his companion, standing left. ANS Kushan -. Cribb, Kidarites, p. 140, 15. A bold example struck from unusually fresh dies with excellent details. Minor flan crack, otherwise, good extremely fine.
