BAKTRIA, Greco-Baktrian Kingdom. Agathokles, circa 185-180 BC. Tetradrachm (Silver, 32 mm, 16.44 g, 12 h), commemorative issue struck for Antiochos III (?), Merv. ANTIOXOY - [Ν]ΙΚΑΤΟΡ[ΟΣ] Diademed head of Euthydemos i to right. Rev. ΒΑΣΙΛΕΥΟΝΤΟΣ - ΑΓΑΘOKΛEOYΣ / ΔIKAIOY Zeus Bremetes, seen from behind, advancing left, aegis draped over outstretched arm, and brandishing thunderbolt; in inner left field, wreath above eagle standing left; monogram to inner right. Bopearachchi 13A. HGC 12, 84. MPHB dies 22/83 (unlisted die combination). SNG ANS 259. Very rare. Harshly cleaned and with remnants of horn silver, otherwise, very fine.
