ISLANDS OFF CARIA, Kos. Circa 345-340/30 BC. Drachm (Subaeratus, 14 mm, 3.41 g, 6 h), a contemporary plated imitation, Sositstratos, magistrate. Head of bearded Herakles to right. Rev. [K]ΩΙΟΝ magistrate. Head of Herakles right, wearing lion skin headdress / Crab; below, astragalos(?) and [ΣΩΣΙΣΤΡΑΤΟΣ]; all within dotted square border. Cf. BMC 66 and HGC 6, 1312 var. (club below) (for prototype). Minor breaks in plating, otherwise, very fine.
