Description

IONIA. Ephesos. Circa 180-67 BC. Cistophorus (Silver, 27 mm, 12.43 g, 12 h), CY 52 = 83/2. Cista mystica from which snake coils; around, ivy wreath with fruits. Rev. EΦE Two serpents entwined around bow and bowcase; above, headdress of Isis; to left, NB (date); to right, torch. DCA 325. Kleiner, Dated, 53. Porous and the obverse struck off center, otherwise, very fine.
