KINGS OF MACEDON. Alexander III ‘the Great’, 336-323 BC. Tetradrachm (Silver, 31 mm, 17.18 g, 12 h), Arados, CY 65 = 195/4. Head of Herakles to right, wearing lion skin headdress. Rev. AΛEΞANΔPOY Zeus seated left on low throne, holding long scepter in his left hand and eagle standing right with closed wings in his right; to left, palm; below throne, monogram of AP; in exergue, EΞ (the E retrograde). Price 3398 var. (E in date not retrograde). Well struck and unusually attractive. Good very fine.
