Description

MOESIA INFERIOR. Nicopolis ad Istrum. Caracalla, 198-217. Tetrassarion (Bronze, 27 mm, 11.54 g, 2 h), Flavius Ulpianus, legatus consularis, circa 210-211. AY K M AYP ANTΩNINOC Laureate head of Caracalla to right. Rev. Y ΦΛ OYΛΠIAN NIKOΠΟAI (sic!) / ΠPOC Apollo standing front, head to left, holding patera in his right hand and branch in his left; to left before him, lighted altar. AMNG I 1567. Attractive dark green patina. The reverse struck slightly off center, otherwise, good very fine.
