Description

KINGS OF MACEDON. Philip III Arrhidaios, 323-317 BC. Drachm (Silver, 17 mm, 4.20 g, 1 h), Sardes, struck under Menander or Kleitos, circa 322-319/8. Head of Herakles to right, wearing lion skin headdress. Rev. ΦIΛIΠΠOY Zeus seated left on low throne, holding long scepter in his left hand and eagle standing right with closed wings in his right; to left, torch; below throne, monogram of AΘ. Price P109. Minor deposits and with some marks, otherwise, very fine.
