★ Very rare ★

ISLANDS OFF SICILY, Uncertain. Circa 2nd century BC. AE (Bronze, 16 mm, 2.37 g, 12 h). 𐤕𐤇 ('tḥ' in Punic) Crab. Rev. Kerykeion and symbol of Tanit within laurel wreath. CNS 3 var. and SNG Copenhagen 485-488 var. (symbol of Tanit on the left and kerykeion on the right). Very rare. Very fine.

From a Swiss collection, formed before 2005.

This issue is sometimes attributed to the small island of Lopadusa (Lampedusa), situated between Malta and Tunisia, but a final conclusion over its origin has not been reached to date.
