PHOENICIA. Sidon. Caracalla, 198-217. Tetradrachm (Billon, 27 mm, 13.51 g, 12 h), 215-217. ΑΥΤ ΚΑΙ ΑΝΤⲰΝΙΝΟC CЄ Laureate head of Caracalla to right. Rev. ΔΗΜΑΡ ЄΞ ΥΠΑΤΟC Δ Eagle with spread wings standing facing, head to left and holding wreath in beak; between the eagle's legs, Europa riding bull to right, holding a billowing veil above with both hands. Bellinger 287. Prieur 1356. Very rare and with an interesting mythological reverse symbol. Struck from somewhat worn dies, otherwise, good very fine.
