Within a pentagon, ‘Allāh / lā ilāha illā / ḍarb Sāmsūn / Muḥammad / rasūl Allāh’ (‘There is no deity but Allah. Struck in Samsun. Muhammad is the messenger of Allah’ in Arabic); to right and left, ‘ṣalla – ʿalayh’, continued in the lower part of the margin, ‘wa sallam’ (‘May [Allah] bless him and grant him peace’ in Arabic); in the margin, the names of the four Rashidun Caliphs. Rev. Within a square, ‘al-sulṭān al-aʿẓam / ghiyāth al-dunyā wa al-dīn / Khudābanda Muḥammad / khallada Allāh mulkahū’ (‘The supreme Sultan, helper of the world and the religion, Khudabanda Muhammad.
