ISLAMIC, Seljuks. Rum. 'Ala al-Din Kay Qubadh III, AH 697-701 / AD 1298-1302. Dirham (Silver, 21 mm, 1.54 g, 12 h), [Milas], AH 700 = AD 1300/1. Within a circle, lion to right; star to left; around, ‘lā ilāha illā Allāh Muḥammad rasūl Allāh’ (‘There is no deity but Allah. Muhammad is the messenger of Allah’ in Arabic). Rev. ‘al-sulṭān al-aʿẓam / ʿAlāʾ al-Dīn Kayqubā/dh ibn Farāmarz’ (‘The supreme sultan ʿAla al-Din Kay Qubadh son of Faramarz’ in Arabic); partly illegible mint and date formula around. Album 1235.2. Very rare and with a lovely obverse. Areas of weakness, otherwise, about extremely fine.
