★ A beautiful stater of Philip II with a fine head of Apollo ★
KINGS OF MACEDON. Philip II, 359-336 BC. Stater (Gold, 19 mm, 8.63 g, 11 h), Pella, struck under Philip II or Alexander III, circa 340/36-328. Laureate head of Apollo to right. Rev. ΦΙΛΙΠΠOY Charioteer driving biga to right, holding goad in his right hand and reins in his left; below the horses, trident to right. Le Rider 340 ff. (unlisted dies). A lovely piece with a fine head of Apollo. The reverse struck slightly off center, otherwise, nearly extremely fine.
