LUCANIA. Metapontion. Circa 330-290 BC. Didrachm or Nomos (Silver, 19 mm, 7.63 g, 4 h). Head of Demeter to left, wearing wreath of grain ears, triple pendant earring and pearl necklace. Rev. META Ear of barley with leaf to left; to left above leaf, griffin springing right; below leaf, ΛY. HN Italy 1589. Johnson Class C, 6. Struck from somewhat worn dies and with an edge crack, otherwise, good very fine.
