★ A pleasant tetradrachm from Messana ★

SICILY. Messana. 475-471 BC. Tetradrachm (Silver, 29 mm, 17.20 g, 3 h). Charioteer driving biga of mules to right; below, olive leaf and berry. Rev. ME SS ANION Hare springing right. Caltabiano 135A (D74/R72A). A pleasant piece, lightly toned and well centered. Minor flatness near the edge on the reverse, otherwise, very fine.
