Religious phrases and the name of the ʿAbbasid caliph al-Qadir billah (AH 381-422 / AD 991-1031) in an ornate style of calligraphy, ‘lā ilāha illā Allāh waḥdahū lā sharīka lahū naṣr min Allāh wa lā quwwat illā billāh al-Qādir billāh’ (‘There is no deity but Allah, the One, there is no partner to Him. Help [is] from Allah and there is no strength except with Allah. al-Qadir billah’ in Arabic); inner margin, citing a local Buwayhid ruler, ‘amīr al-ʾumarā Samā al-Dawla wa Sanā al-Milla Abu’l-Ḥasan ibn Shams al-Dawla’ (‘the amir of amirs Sama al-Dawla wa Sana al-Milla Abu’l-Hasan son of Shams al-Dawla’ in Arabic); mint and date formula in the outer margin. Rev. Citing the titulature of the ruler within a dotted circle, ‘li-llāh / Muḥammad rasūl Allāh / ʿAḍud al-Dīn / ʿAlāʾ al-Dawla / Abū Jaʿfar’ (‘To Allah. Muhammad is the messenger of Allah. ʿAdud al-Din ʿAla al-Dawla Abu Jaʿfar’ in Arabic); in the margin, ‘Muḥammad rasūl Allāh arsalahū bi al-hudā wa dīn al-ḥaqq liyuẓhirahū ʿalā al-dīn kullih wa law kariha al-mushrikūn’ (‘Muhammad is the messenger of Allah.
