Andronicus II Palaeologus, with Michael IX, 1282-1328. Hyperpyron (Electrum, 22 mm, 3.97 g, 6 h), Constantinopolis, 1294-1320. Bust of Virgin Mary, orans, flanked by two letters, all within city walls furnished with four groups of towers. Rev. Christ blessing Andronicus II and Michael IX, kneeling to left and right, respectively; in fields, IC - XC; to left and right, traces of legend. SB 2396. An unusually complete example with a well centered obverse. Areas of weakness and light scratches, otherwise, good very fine.
