★ A very rare tetrassarion of Commodus from Came from the collection of Prof. Henry C. Lindgren ★

LYDIA. Came. Commodus, 177-192. Tetrassarion (?) (Bronze, 33 mm, 18.45 g, 6 h), Demetrios Artemonos, strategos, circa 184-187. ΑY Κ Μ ΑYΡΗ ΚOΜOΔOϹ Laureate, draped and cuirassed bust of Commodus to right, seen from behind. Rev. ЄΠΙ ϹΤΡΑ ΔΗΜΗΤΡΙOY ΑΡΤЄΜΩΝ / ΚΑΜΗΝΩΝ On the left, facing cult statue of Artemis Ephesia, wearing kalathos and with supports; on the right, Dionysos standing front, head to left, holding kantharos in his right hand and thyrsos in his left. BMC 3. GRPC Lydia -. Lindgren I A218b ( this coin ). RPC IV.2 online 484.4 ( this coin ). Von Fritze, Mysien, 616. Very rare. Very light deposits and with a small spot of corrosion on the obverse, otherwise, very fine.
