Description

MYSIA. Lampsakos. 2nd-1st century BC. AE (Bronze, 21 mm, 6.44 g, 11 h). Laureate head of Apollo to right. Rev. ΛΑΜ Lyra; in field to left, forepart of Pegasos to left. Plankenhorn, Mysien, p. 96, 40 ( this coin ). SNG Paris 1234. SNG Tübingen 2307. Overstruck on an earlier issue from Lampsakos of the 'Athena/Forepart of Pegasos' type (SNG Paris 1209, SNG von Aulock 1302). Traces of overstriking and very minor corrosion on the obverse, otherwise, very fine.
