KUSHANO-SASANIANS. Hormizd I, circa 265-295. Dinar (Gold, 30 mm, 8.02 g, 11 h), Bactria, probably Balkh. ΩYPOMOZΔO OOZOPKO KOÞANO ÞAYO ('Hormizd the great, Kushan king' in Bactrian) Hormizd I standing front, head to left, wearing a crenellated crown with a globe on top, sacrificing with his right hand over lighted altar and holding trident in his left hand; to left, trident above small altar; to right, tamgha. Rev. BOPZAOANΔO IAZAAO ('exalted God' in Bactrian) The illustrious God (Shiva) standing facing with flaming hair, holding diadem in his right hand and trident in his left; behind, the bull Nandi, his companion, standing left. ANS Kushan 2206. A few minor scrapes and scratches, otherwise, about extremely fine.
