ISLANDS OFF TROAS, Tenedos. Mid to late 5th century BC. Hemidrachm (Silver, 11 mm, 1.90 g, 1 h), Chian standard. Janiform head of Zeus on the left and Hera, wearing earring, on the right. Rev. T-E/N-E Double-axe (labrys); all within incuse square. HGC 6 - . SNG Ashmolean - . SNG Copenhagen -, cf. 506 (in earlier style and with longer ethnic). SNG von Aulock -, cf. 7665 (inverted faces). Apparently unpublished and of fine style. Minor porosity and with light doubling on the reverse, otherwise, extremely fine.
