Description

ISLAMIC, Anatolia & al-Jazira (Post-Seljuk). Salduqids. Nasir al-Dawla Ghazi, AH 526-540 / AD 1132-1145. Fals (Bronze, 22 mm, 4.44 g, 12 h), perhaps citing the Seljuk ruler Rukn al-Din Mas'ud I (AH 510-551), without mint, probably struck at Erzurum (Theodosiopolis). Draped nimbate figure standing facing, holding long cross in his right hand and uncertain object in his left. Rev. Legend in Kufic. Album B1890. Very rare. Minor corrosion and with light cleaning scratches, otherwise, very fine.

From the collection of Dr. D. Löer, ex Album 35, 12 September 2019, 1237.
