ISLAMIC, Seljuks. Rum. Ghiyath al-Din Kay Khusraw II, first reign, AH 634-644 / AD 1237-1246. Dirham (Silver, 23 mm, 3.03 g, 3 h), Sivas, AH 639 = 1241/2. Lion and sun, one star to the left of the sun and two stars below the lion; citing the ʿAbbasid caliph al-Mustanṣir billāh (AH 623-640 / AD 1226-1242) above the sun. Rev. ‘al-sulṭān / al-aʿẓam / Kaykhusraw / ibn Kayqubād’ (‘the Great Sultan Kaykhusraw, son of Kayqubad’ in Arabic); Mint and date formula around. Album 1218. An unusually sharp and fresh example. Minor areas of weakness, otherwise, good extremely fine.
