ISLAMIC, Mamluks. al-Zahir Sayf al-Din Jaqmaq, AH 842-857 / AD 1438-1453. Ashrafi (Gold, 15 mm, 3.39 g, 5 h), al-Qāhira (Cairo), date off flan. The Kalima under two segmented lines, ‘lā ilāha illā A[llāh / Mu]ḥammad rasū[l Allāh]’ (‘There is no deity but Allah. Muhammad is the messenger of Allah’ in Arabic). Rev. The name and titles of Jaqmaq separated by two segmented lines. Album 1006. Cf. Balog 736. Areas of weakness, otherwise, good very fine.
