Michael Probatas, 11th century. Seal (Lead, 16 mm, 4.37 g, 12 h). +ΚЄ R,Θ, TⲰ C, Δ૪Λ, - Θ / ΓЄ-Ⲱ/P/Γ, Nimbate facing bust of Saint George, holding spear over his right shoulder and shield on his left arm. Rev. MIXAHΛ TO ΠP,RATA - A/X - MI/X Nimbate facing bust of St. Michael, holding scepter in his right hand and globe in his left. Unpublished in the standard references. An attractive iconographical seal with a family name rarely attested on seals. Very fine.
