Andronicus I Comnenus, 1183-1185. Tetarteron (Bronze, 20 mm, 4.79 g, 12 h), Thessalonica. Nimbate bust of the Virgin orans facing, wearing pallium and maphorium; on her breast, nimbate head of the infant Christ facing; in the fields to left and right, MP and ΘV. Rev. [ANΔΡ]ΟNIK[OC] Half-length bust Andronicus I Comnenus facing, crowned and wearing loros, holding labarum in his right hand and globus cruciger in his left. SB 1987. Minor deposits and struck somewhat off center, otherwise, good very fine.
