Description

Delmatius, Caesar, 335-337. Follis (Bronze, 19 mm, 2.18 g, 12 h), Constantinopolis, 333-335. FL DELMATIV[S N]OB C Laureate, draped and cuirassed bust of Delmatius to right. Rev. GL[OR]-IA EXERC-ITVS / •CONSI• Two soldiers standing facing each other, each holding inverted spear in his outer hand and placing his inner hand on shield set on ground; between them, two signa. RIC 84. Extremely rare. Some weakness and with minor traces of corrosion, otherwise, about very fine.

From the collection of Dr. L. Ramskold, formed since 1969.

The two-standards Delmatius coins from Constantinople are much rarer than the one-standard coins. Delmatius became Caesar on 18 September 335, near the end of this emission, which explains the rarity of his two-standards coins. His coins from the following emissions are relatively common.
