Constantius II, as Caesar, 324-337. Follis (Bronze, 21 mm, 3.00 g, 12 h), Constantinopolis, 328. FL IVL CONSTANTIVS NOB C Laureate, draped and cuirassed bust of Constantius II to right. Rev. PROVIDEN-TIAE CAESS / CONS Campgate with two turrets and no doors; above, star; in field to left, S. RIC 28. Struck from a somewhat worn obverse die and with very minor deposits, otherwise, good very fine.
From the collection of Dr. L. Ramskold, formed since 1969.
In this gate, the upper row has no block boundaries, only a row of dots. Interestingly, the horizontal lines were clearly cut from right to left in the die, indicating that the engraver was right-handed.
