Description

Constantine I, 307/310-337. Light Miliarense (Silver, 23 mm, 4.48 g, 12 h), Constantinopolis, 334-335. CONSTANTI-NVS MAX A[VG] Laurel-and-rosette-diademed and draped bust of Constantine I to right. Rev. V[I]RTVS EXERCITVS / CONSIA Soldier standing front in military attire, head to right, holding inverted spear in his right hand and placing his left on shield set on the ground. Ramskold, Silver emissions (2018), p. 179-80 (emission 6). RIC 131. RSC 700†d. Of the highest rarity, one of only two known examples from this officina in private hands. Glued back together from several pieces and with part of the flan missing, otherwise, very fine.
