Severus Alexander, 222-235. Denarius (Subaeratus, 19 mm, 2.00 g, 11 h), a contemporary plated imitation of an issue from Rome. Irregular mint, after 225. IMP C M AVR SEV ALEXAND AVG Laureate and draped bust of Severus Alexander. Rev. P M TR P VIII COS III P P Severus Alexander, laureate, walking right, holding spear in his right hand and trophy over his left shoulder. Cf. BMC 609, Cohen 366 and RIC 93 (for reverse prototype). Minor breaks in plating, otherwise, very fine.
