Hadrian, 117-138. Denarius (Subaeratus, 18 mm, 2.11 g, 6 h), a contemporary plated imitation of an issue from Rome, irregular mint, after 120. IMP CAESAR TRAIAN HADRIANVS AVG Laureate head of Hadrian to right, with slight drapery on his left shoulder. Rev. P M TR P COS III / LIBERAL AVG / III Hadrian seated left on platform, making distribution to citizen standing to right on steps, holding up fold of toga. Cf. BMC 293, Cohen 908 and RIC 308 (for prototype). Some corrosion and breaks in plating, otherwise, very fine.
