JUDAEA. Gaza. Hadrian, 117-138. Assarion (Bronze, 19 mm, 6.18 g, 12 h), Epi(demia) 2 = 130/1. Α ΚΑ ΤΡ ΑΔΡΙΑΝ ϹE Laureate head of Hadrian to right, with slight drapery on his left shoulder. Rev. ΓΑΖΑ Β ΕΠΙ Herakles standing front, head to left, leaning right on club with his right hand and with lion's skin draped over his left arm; to right, 𐡌 (Phoenician 'mem'). RPC III online 4021.3 ( this coin ). Extremely rare, one of apparently just three known examples. Repatinated, otherwise, very fine.
