★ A beautiful rendering of Herakles with the facial features of Hadrian ★

CILICIA. Tarsus. Pseudo-autonomous issue. Tetrassarion (Bronze, 30 mm, 16.00 g, 12 h), time of Hadrian, 117-138. ΑΔΡΙΑΝΗC ΤΑΡCЄΩΝ Head of Herakles to right, wreathed with oak-leaves, and with club over his left shoulder. Rev. ΜΗΤΡΟΠΟΛЄΩC Perseus standing front, head to left, holding cult statue of Apollo holding wolves in his right hand, chlamys and harpa in his left; at his feet, lion attacking bull kneeling left; in field to left, ΒΟΗ/ΘΟΥ. RPC III online 3303.11 ( this coin ). SNG Paris 1437-41. SNG Pfälzer 1340-3. An attractive piece of fine style with a beautiful rendering of Herakles with the facial features of Hadrian. Edge crack, otherwise, very fine.
