SASANIAN KINGS. Ardashir I, 223/4-240. AE (Bronze, 17 mm, 3.14 g, 5 h), Mint D (‘Marw’). Bust of Ardashir I to right, wearing wearing close-fitting headdress with korymbos; distorted Pahlavi legend around. Rev. Fire altar; to left and right, traces of ‘NWRA ZY ˗ ʾrthštr’, i.e. ‘ādur ī Ardaxšēr’ (‘Fire of Ardashir’ in Pahlavi). Göbl type V/2. SNS I, type IIIa/3a. Rare. Some deposits, otherwise, very fine.
