Description

Diocletian, 284-305. Antoninianus (Silvered bronze, 23 mm, 4.00 g, 12 h), Lugdunum, 287-289. IMP C DIOCLETIANVS P F AVG Radiate, draped and cuirassed bust of Diocletian to right, seen from behind. Rev. IOVI TVTATORI AVGG / P Jupiter standing front, head to left, holding Victory on globe in his right hand and long scepter in his left; to left at feet, eagle standing left, head right. Bastien 143. Cohen 297. RIC 53. Thin flan crack and the reverse a bit weak, otherwise, extremely fine.

From the Agricola Collection, privately acquired from W. Henning in June 1982 (with collector's ticket).
