Octavian, 44-27 BC. Denarius (Silver, 19 mm, 3.54 g, 8 h), uncertain mint in Italy (Rome?), 30-29. Bare head of Octavian to right. Rev. Facade of the Curia Julia with a tetrastyle porch; on the architrave IMP•CAESAR; in pediment, figure seated front between animals; on apex of roof, Victory standing front on globe, head to left, holding a wreath with her right hand and vexillum with her left; at each end of architrave, statues standing, each holding a parazonium and a scepter. The construction of the Curia Julia, the new senate house, began under Julius Caesar in 44 BC. It was completed and dedicated by Octavian on 28 August 29 BC.
