★ Lustrous and struck on a particularly broad and medallic flan ★

Brutus, 43-42 BC. Denarius (Silver, 19 mm, 3.79 g, 1 h), L. Plaetorius Cestianus, moneyer. Military mint traveling with Brutus and Cassius in western Asia Minor or northern Greece, late summer-autumn 42. L•PLAET•CEST Laureate, draped and veiled bust of Ceres to right, wearing polos on top of her head. Rev. BRVTVS•IMP Sacrificial axe and simpulum. Babelon (Junia) 51 and (Plaetoria) 12. Crawford 508/2. CRI 214. RBW 1781. Sydenham 1300. A lustrous piece struck on a particularly broad and medallic flan. Light die wear on the obverse, otherwise, good extremely fine.
