CIMMERIAN BOSPOROS. Pantikapaion. Circa 370-355 BC. Hemidrachm (Silver, 14 mm, 2.47 g, 2 h). Bearded head of Pan with animal ears and a pug nose facing slightly to right. Rev. ΠANTI Lion crouching to right; all within shallow circular incuse. HGC 7, 64. MacDonald 41. SNG BM Black Sea 862. SNG Stancomb 537-8. Very rare. An attractive piece, with a particularly wild and ferocious looking Pan. Slightly granular, otherwise, good very fine.
