ARMENIA, Cilician Armenia. Royal. Levon I, 1198-1219. Tram (Silver, 22 mm, 2.88 g, 11 h). 'Levon King of all the Armenians' (in Armenian) Levon seated facing on throne decorated with lions, placing his feet on footstool, holding globus cruciger in his right hand and fleur-de-lis in his left. Rev. 'By the Will of God' (in Armenian) Two lions rampant back-to-back, each with heads reverted; patriarchal cross between them. AC 282 ff. CCA 123 ff. An attractive and nicely toned example. Extremely fine.
