A Konstantinos Tzimpeas is attested for the year 1279 as apographeus in Thessalonika. A relative of his named Theodoros is attested in 1304 as servant of the emperor. The family name may be connected to the fortress Tzympe (Çimpe) on the Gallipoli peninsula.
