Description

Licinius II, Caesar, 317-324. Follis (Bronze, 20 mm, 3.12 g, 12 h), Rome, circa 320. LICINIVS IVN NOB C Laureate, draped and cuirassed bust of Licinius II to right, seen from behind. Rev. ROMAE A-ETERNAE / R ЄΡⲰ C T Roma seated right, inscribing with her right hand shield set on her left knee with X/V in two lines; at her side, shield. RIC 198. Rare. Minor smoothing, otherwise, about extremely fine.

From the collection of Dr. L. Ramskold, formed since 1969.

RIC 198 lists officinae S and T, but the Oxford specimen for ‘S’ is in fact a misread officina T, and all ten known examples are from officina T. Of six examples in private hands, four are in the Ramskold Collection.
