★ An extremely rare hybrid issue ★
Constantine II, as Caesar, 316-337. Follis (Bronze, 15 mm, 1.51 g, 12 h), a contemporary imitation of an issue from Treveri. Uncertain mint in Gaul (?), circa 333-340 (?). CONSTANTINVS IVN NOB C Laureate and cuirassed bust of Constantine II to right. Rev. CONSTAN/TINVS / AVG / PTR in four lines; above, laurel wreath. C.-F. This exceedingly rare hybrid of Constantine Caesar and Constantine I is the only one in private hands (the other one now in the Bode Museum, Berlin) and by far the finest known example. The obverse is of a type regularly used with other reverses, mainly of the 'GLORIA EXERCITVS' type.
