Description

Tiberius, as Caesar, AD 4-14. As (Bronze, 25 mm, 8.89 g, 6 h), Lugdunum, struck under Augustus, 12-14. [TI CAE]SAR AVGVST F IMPERAT VII Laureate head of Tiberius to right. Rev. ROM ET AVG Front elevation of the Altar of Lugdunum, decorated with the corona civica between laurels and stylized figures; altar flanked by columns surmounted by statues of Victory standing vis-à-vis, each holding a palm frond in her right hand and wreath in her left. BMC 583. Cohen 37. RIC 244. Slightly smoothed and struck on a somewhat short flan, otherwise, about extremely fine.
