L. Calpurnius Piso Frugi, 90 BC. Denarius (Silver, 19 mm, 3.89 g, 3 h), Rome. Laureate head of Apollo to right; behind, LXVII. Rev. L•PISO•FRV[GI] Naked horseman galloping right, holding reins in his right hand and palm frond over his left shoulder; above, CXXVI; in exergue, monogram of ROMA. Babelon (Calpurnia) 12 var. BMC 1920. Crawford 340/1. RBW 1255 var. (differing control numbers). Sydenham 661. Somewhat cleaned, with some scratches and nicks, otherwise, very fine.
