Description

SASANIAN KINGS. Khosrau III or V, 629-631 or 631-637. Drachm (Silver, 30 mm, 3.50 g, 3 h), WYHC (the Treasury mint), RY 2 = AD 632. Draped bust of Khosrau III or V to right, wearing elaborate mural crown; behind head, AFZUT GDH ('may his kingship increase' in Pahlawi); before head, HWSRWD ('Khosrau' in Pahlawi). Rev. Fire altar with ribbons flanked by two attendants; in upper left field, six-pointed star; in upper right field, crescent; to left, date; to right, WYHC (name of the mint in Pahlawi. SSCT 4329. Nicely toned. Some marks, otherwise, about extremely fine.
