INDO-SKYTHIANS, Western Satraps. Nahapana, circa 53-99. Drachm (Silver, 15 mm, 2.19 g, 1 h). BACIΛЄOC X NAAOYHBAΓOY ('in Greek') Head of Nahapana to right. Rev. 'RaJno KsaHaRaTaSa NaPaNaSa' (in Brahmi on the left) and 'RaNo KsaHaRaTaSa NaHaPaNaSa' (in Kharoshthi on the right) Stylized thunderbolt and arrow. Fishman Type 3.2. Rare with the title Basileus. A very attractive piece, nicely toned and unusually well preserved. Struck on a somewhat short flan and with some deposits, otherwise, good very fine.
Nahapana, son of Bhumaka, was arguably the greatest ruler of all the Western Satraps. He ruled over Gujarat, Malwa, and the northern Konkan.
